Preserving Intelligence(non-educational perspective)

One of the core essences of humans is the variation in their features. These defining characteristics in humans have made for segregation into various classes based on context. Such differences include upper, middle, and lower class which are indices of social status, high IQ, and low IQ which are indices of intelligence, poor and rich on the basis of wealth, etc. This discrepancy has been a defining attribute of humans over the years.

With such defining attributes, some humans have maintained exceptional status by their natural aptitude and learned capabilities. We have geniuses, Nobel laureates, business moguls, sports experts, tech whiz kids, literary giants, academic giants, political aficionados and so many others who have been dexterous with their profession and career. Some of these men include Albert Einstein who had an estimated IQ of 160 while Isaac Newton had 190, mark Zuckerberg had 152. James William Sidis had an IQ between 250–300.

The impetus to preserve a generation of super-smart, healthier, and more productive members of the society fuelled the creation of the genius sperm bank in Germany by Robert K Graham in 1980 which was called the repository for germinal choice. It operated till 1999 two years after his death. Sperm were collected from men with remarkable characteristics to improve the human gene pool. The sperm bank produced about 215 babies and they lived quite extraordinary lives.

With certain human characteristics cascading down the totem pole of excellence, the genius sperm bank will be a veritable option to maintain a pool of super-smart gentlemen. Some feats achieved in time past have been eroded now and certain human attributes are no longer seen in the present-day generation. What does the future hold for excellence in all aspects of our life? Can we have the same class of genius we had in time past now? Is this not an alteration to the natural course of events?
